The fall season is finally here and with it comes colorful foliage and cooler weather. A changing season means it’s time to perform some routine maintenance on your vehicle. Check out these fall car care tips from us here at Linwood Chrysler Dodge Jeep® Ram of Paducah.
Ensuring that your vehicle’s lighting system is functioning properly is a necessity to both your safety and the safety of other drivers. After all, driving at night without headlights will likely lead to disaster.
Making sure your vehicle’s lighting system is in working order is fairly easy. Simply perform a walk-around of your vehicle with all the lights turned on. If everything looks good, then there’s no need to do anything. Make sure to replace any dead bulbs or cracked casings though.
A battery requires more of a charge to start the car in colder weather. Older batteries might not be up to the challenge, especially if you head north during fall and winter. As a general rule a battery that’s more than three years old should be replaced.
Tires without the proper amount of tread are a safety hazard. Tread is responsible for providing enough grip on the road to maintain traction. To see if your tires have enough tread, place a penny into the tire. If you can still see Lincoln’s head on the coin, it’s time to get some new tires.
